10-07-2024 - Geomagnetic, Solar, and Radio Activity Observations and Forecast

  • Summary

  • Hey there everyone, let's dive into the cosmic weather forecast for the next three days brought to you by the U.S. Department of Commerce, NOAA, Space Weather Prediction Center.

First up, we have some geomagnetic activity on the horizon. Expect some minor storming with a Kp index of 5 on Oct 07, accompanied by a chance of glancing influence from a CME that departed the Sun a few days back.

Moving on to solar radiation, things have been below storm levels recently. However, there's a 30% chance of hitting S1 or greater on Oct 07, decreasing to 25% by Oct 09 due to enhanced flare potential from regions near the western edge of the solar disk.

And in radio blackout news, we witnessed some R1 level events recently, with a big one occurring on Oct 06. Brace yourself for possible minor to moderate R1-R2 radio blackouts with a slight chance of stronger R3 or greater events until Oct 09.

So, there you have it, folks. Keep an eye out for some cosmic action in the coming days. For more detailed info, check us out via the link in the show notes.
