10-08-2024 - Geomagnetic, Solar, and Radio Activity Observations and Forecast

  • Summary

  • Alright folks, let's dive into the upcoming 3-day forecast brought to you by the U.S. Department of Commerce and NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center.

First up, we've got some geomagnetic activity to keep an eye on. We saw a Kp of 6 (which is a G2 on the NOAA Scale) in the past 24 hours, and we're expecting some minor to moderate geomagnetic storms on October 8th. So, brace yourselves for a bit of cosmic drama.

Moving on to solar radiation, things have been behaving well below storm levels. There's a slight chance of hitting the S1 (Minor) threshold in the next few days due to some solar flare potential near the western limb of the solar disk. So, keep your sunscreen ready, just in case.

Now, onto radio blackout activity. We've had some reaching up to R3 levels, with a forecast of more minor to moderate radio blackouts expected. So, make sure your radio is tuned in for all the updates.
