10-10-2024 - Geomagnetic, Solar, and Radio Activity Observations and Forecast

  • Summary

  • Hey there, weather enthusiasts! Ready to dive into some out-of-this-world forecasts brought to you by the U.S. Department of Commerce's NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center? Let's break it down for the next 3 days.

    A. Geomagnetic Activity Observation and Forecast:
Hold onto your hats, folks! We've seen a Kp of 5 (G1) in the past 24 hours, and we're expecting things to amp up to 8.33 (G4) between Oct 10 and Oct 12. Brace yourselves for potential G4 (Severe) conditions, with the slight chance of reaching G5 (Extreme) levels. Sounds like Mother Nature is putting on a show!

    B. Solar Radiation Activity Observation and Forecast:
The solar radiation levels have been off the charts lately, and we're looking at a continuation of S1 or greater storms, with an 80% chance on Oct 10. As we move towards Oct 12, that percentage drops to 30%, so enjoy the light show while it lasts!

    C. Radio Blackout Activity and Forecast:
We've experienced some radio blackouts at R3 levels recently, and the forecast shows a high probability of R1-R2 (Minor-Moderate) events on Oct 10 and 11. Keep an eye out for isolated R3 (Strong or greater) blackouts through Oct 12.

So, there you have it, folks! Stay tuned to the skies as things might get a little wild out there over the next few days. For more detailed info, check out the link in the show notes.
