10-12-2024 - Geomagnetic, Solar, and Radio Activity Observations and Forecast

  • Summary

  • Hey there, weather watchers! Time for a peek at what the NOAA's been tracking up in the skies. Let's break down the next 3 days in a not-so-typical weather report.

First up, we might be in for some geomagnetic action. Expect some minor geomagnetic storm vibes on October 12th, possibly reaching moderate levels. It's all thanks to a CME that's been making its way from the sun since the 9th, so keep an eye out.

Then, let's talk solar radiation. We're looking at a slight chance of a solar radiation storm event from the 12th to the 14th as AR 3848 glides towards the western limb. Nothing too major, but good to be aware of.

Lastly, radio blackout activity has been dancing around, hitting R1 levels most recently. We've got a consistent 60% chance of minor to moderate blackouts and a 25% chance of strong events through the 14th.

So, there you have it, folks! Keep your eyes to the skies for some interesting cosmic displays over the next few days. For more detailed info, check out the link in the show notes.
