Have you ever felt stuck and as if you can’t move forward? Wondering how others appear to move on, feel motivated and inspired, yet you feel like you’re rooted firmly where you are completely demotivated? Do you ever feel like you’re living life on autopilot with no real joy or happiness? Well this week’s guest on my podcast is Jo Rodriguez, a psychologist with over 20 years experience, who joins me today to talk more about what this feeling stuck actually is (think a form of survival mode) and provides us with heaps of tools and words of wonderful wisdom to gently guide us out of this stuckness. She even offers us a beautifully soothing tapping exercise which is incredibly nourishing and is something we can all add to our daily routines. This is a must listen as so many of us are experiencing some form of this.

In this week’s episode of the I Don’t Think We Talk Enough About podcast, I’m delighted to share with you this wonderful conversation that I had with Josh Connolly. Josh is the author of the highly acclaimed book ‘It’s Them Not You: How to Break Free from Toxic Parents and Reclaim Your Story.’

Josh shares so generously his experience of being raised within a dysfunctional family and how this profoundly impacted him as a teen and young adult. Yet, his journey brought him to a healing place where he works tirelessly to show others that they can, too, heal. His energy and presence is hugely inspirational, so much so that this episode is just part one, and part two will be recorded and released soon. This topic is definitely one that needs more space. I hope you enjoy.

  • Episode 9 | The Secret Language of the Body (with Jennifer Mann)
    Aug 1 2024

    Send us a text

Hi, I’m Helen Marie, your host of the “I Don’t Think We Talk Enough About’ podcast. Welcome to episode 9.

Today I’m excited to share this beautiful conversation that I had with Jennifer Mann where Jen shares so openly her journey through somatic healing and the power in working with the body and the nervous system to find healing. And in her new highly acclaimed international bestselling book which she wrote with co-author Karden Rabin ‘The Secret Language of The Body’ she shows you how you too can find such healing from living in survival mode. We dive into this process throughout our conversation. There’s incredible insight from Jen, vulnerability, and hope. If you are struggling with signs of nervous system dysregulation, overwhelm, stress, and anxiety then this episode is a must listen. It truly is a conversation of informed hope; a beautiful resource.

Jennifer is a mind-body practitioner and expert in the field of treating psychophysiological disorders and is the co-founder of Somia and the Heal Program. At the pinnacle of her career in holistic health and wellness, without warning, she became bedridden overnight and was diagnosed with multiple chronic illnesses, severe anxiety, chronic pain, and a myriad of “unexplained” symptoms. Despite her clinical training in neurorehabilitation and physiotherapy, and studies in biomedical sciences, she was at a loss for understanding and conventional medicine offered no explanation. Told that life as she knew it was over, Jen not only refused to let that be her prognosis, she became mission-driven to finding answers and reinventing her clinical practice.

Her journey is not merely influenced by her degrees or professional achievements, instead it is defined by personal resilience, self-transformation, and doing what the status quo said was impossible. With over a decade of dedication to studying the mind and body, Jen has emerged as a renowned clinician and an authority in integrating neurophysiology within holistic mind and body practices. Her work has been instrumental in helping thousands recover from stress, trauma and multiple chronic illnesses rooted in nervous system dysregulation. Her personal recovery has profoundly informed her work, making her methods not only innovative, but practical, relatable, and empathetically grounded. She lives in Bali with her husband and their precious son Leo.

I hope you enjoy listening to this conversation as much as I enjoyed talking with Jen.

I am so excited to introduce today's guest. I think many of you are going to love this conversation. I’m joined by Dr. Sabina Brennan, a neuroscientist who has recently published the bestselling book "The Neuroscience of Manifesting." It’s brilliant. She’s brilliant!

Manifestation gets a lot of attention on social media, but there is little information about the science behind how it works. Maybe you’ve tried some manifesting techniques and put your trust in the universe but haven't had the expected or hoped-for results. Well, Sabina changes that for you. She shows you how to make manifestation work for you. Through her 6 Cs protocol, she guides you through a scientifically-backed method that brings more hope and less reliance on "woo woo."

    I hope you enjoy.

    Send us a text

Welcome to episode 5 of the 'I Don't Think We Talk Enough About' podcast.

Today I’m having the most nourishing conversation with Suzy Reading about debunking self-care as selfish but with a twist of let’s see the good in being selfish and the necessity and benefits for others in us being selfish. This episode will hopefully leave you full of insight as well as feelings of empowerment to find ways to meet your own needs, too.

Suzy is a mother of two, an author, Chartered Psychologist and Coach. She specialises in self-care, helping people manage their stress, emotions, and energetic bank balance. It was her life experience of motherhood colliding with the terminal illness of her father that sparked her passion for self-care which she now teaches to her clients, young and old, to cope during periods of stress, loss and change and to boost their resilience in the face of future challenges. Her first book ‘The Self-Care Revolution’ came out in 2017, and she has since written an abundance of books on self-care for both adults and children.

Suzy truly is an expert in self-care and a much needed resource for so many who may struggle to meet their needs in this ever demanding world. Maybe now is the time to say yes to you.

This episode is full of insight and tools to help you find a way back home to yourself and a way to maybe be a little more selfish. Delve in for some deep self-care moments and a gentle reminder that you matter too. This episode feels like a deep act of self-care in itself. I hope you enjoy.
