• Zac Alley pulls a TBOW to end the 2024 Sooner Season
    Jan 5 2025

In this episode of Sooner State of Mind, stoke levels are rising. Every time we think that the news cycle has ended for these 2024 Oklahoma Sooners, we get a quick reminder that it definitely is not. After the Navy game, the Sooners found out that Zac Alley would be leaving his current position to take the same position at the University of West Virginia. Throw in the titles of assistant head coach and linebackers coach and that trifecta was enough to get Alley to bounce less than a full year after OU hired him. There is no official word on his replacement, but we do expect to hear something sooner than later. We also check in with the last few comings and goings regarding the transfer portal. Then we recap the Elite Eight matchups in the College Football Playoff and we preview the Final Four. On this episode of Sooner State of Mind, stoke levels are rising! The Sooners have their new offensive coordinator. OU welcomes Ben Arbuckle to the staff. He doesn't have much experience, but in the few short years he has coached, his offenses and quarterbacks have put up some legit numbers. We will talk about his fit on this OU staff. Unfortunately, it looks like the Jackson Arnold era has come to an end for the University of Oklahoma. We will talk about the ups and downs of his first and only season as the starting quarterback for the Sooners and who might replace him in 2025. Speaking of 2025, the Sooners just put their finishing touches on next year's class, with an emphasis on building in the trenches. • The Oklahoma Sooners put a 24-3 beat down on Alabama!
    Nov 28 2024

On this episode of Sooner State of Mind, it has been a minute, but stoke levels are definitely rising! Our Sooners are coming off their biggest win of the season. Last Saturday Night, the Oklahoma Sooners put an old-fashioned beat down on Jalen Milroe and the #7 Alabama Crimson Tide. Not only that, but they held the Tide out of the endzone with the 24-3 victory in front of a packed house at the Palace on the Prairie. The Tide jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but that would be the last points they would score on the night. True Freshman Xavier Robinson was dominant as he and Jackson Arnold both ran for over 100 yards, contributing to the 275 yards rushing the Sooners had on the night. To most, it was a season-saving win, especially for the Seniors taking the field for the last time on Senior Night. That includes Butkus Award Finalist Danny Stutsman, who led the defensive charge. Now the Sooners look to build off that performance as they head to Death Valley for a season finale against the LSU Tigers. • Can the Sooners avoid a Bama bummer?
    Nov 20 2024

On this episode of Sooner State of Mind, we try to restore stoke to an appropriate level. One last home game for the Sooners and unfortunately the opponent is Jalen Milroe and the #7 Alabama Crimson Tide. The Tide are in their first season post Saban but to this point, it still looks very similar to Saban era football. The Tide are trying to secure their spot in the 12-team playoff and possibly the SEC Championship. the Sooners are just trying to become bowl-eligible. A handful of Sooner seniors will be taking the field at the Palace for the very last time. The Sooners need to do everything in their power to send those seniors off the field with a win. That list includes Danny Stutsman who just entered the top 10 in most tackles in Oklahoma Sooners history, but we know he would give up his place on that list for one more win at home. We also sniff around OU's hunt for a new offensive coordinator as well as preview some of the best games from the upcoming week. • Sooner Magic turns tragic
    Nov 13 2024

On this episode of Sooner State of Mind, we look back at what went wrong in Oklahoma's epic collapse against the Missouri Tigers. The Sooners wasted some Billy Bowman Sooner Magic on their way to the 30-23 loss on the road. The Sooners now fall to 5-5 and their hopes of becoming bowl-eligible have taken a turn for the worse. Many questions need to be answered. One of the biggest is if Jackson Arnold is the quarterback of the future for the Sooners. We are not even sure JFA will be the quarterback of the Sooners in their next game against Alabama. At this point, all ideas will be considered as they take time to reflect on what could have been over the bye week. We also take a look back at some of the best games from Week 11, including an incredible last-second win from BYU and a shocking defeat of the Georgia Bulldogs. We also preview the latest rankings for the 12 Team College Football Playoff. As to who got snubbed, we will let you know. Can the Sooners get things right after the bye week with huge games against Alabama and LSU to end the season? At least we have some time to ponder such questions.
