What happens after we die? Mankind has speculated through the ages that a few righteous or lucky people go straight to heaven. Or so we've come to believe. Good or bad, our journey doesn't end at death. For most of us, the afterlife begins in an office where an overworked and under-appreciated demon decides our long term fate.

On a secret military base tucked in a remote desert mountain, a dangerous machine lies hidden from the American public. Known as the Actuator, this machine is capable of transforming entire communities into alternate realities. In theory, these often terrifying realities are reversible. The scientists in charge of this machine employ operatives called Machine Monks, who attune their minds to manifest single ideas from the realms of fantasy and science fiction.

CJ Cruz found his niche working for whichever super-flavor-of-the-day happens to be running the show at the time. The captain and crew of the Sky Turtle are forced to risk everything in a fight between these followers of opposing elemental magics.

In the future, everybody wears computer glasses that scan the world and project whatever you want to see right in front of it, with perfected augmented reality. In other news, the world is under attack by aliens. Disease is decimating the human population. A man takes over America and declares himself to be a god.
