Now his left brain can’t remember the secret and his uncooperative right brain won’t tell. Tichy struggles for control of the lost memory and of his own two warring sides.

Su misión consiste en esclarecer los problemas de conducta de los tres tripulantes de la única estación de observación situada en el planeta. Solaris es un lugar peculiar: no existe la tierra firme, únicamente un extenso océano dotado de vida y, presumiblemente, de inteligencia.

Die Sammlung Sterntagebücher ist eine Zusammenstellung verschiedener Reisen der großen Sternfahrer Pilot Pirx und Ijon Tichy sowie der beiden Roboter Trurl und Klapauzius. Der Autor Stanisław Lem schickt den Hörer weit in die Zukunft und vermittelt ihm auf scharfsinnige und humoristische Weise erkenntnistheoretische, psychologische, soziologische und ethische Aspekte. So werden Fragen zur Intelligenz und zum Eigenleben von Maschinen ebenso behandelt, wie die Begegnung des Menschen mit sich selbst (anhand von Zeitschleifen) oder die Relativität subjektiver Eindrücke.

Mit seinen futuristischen Werken war der polnische Schriftsteller Stanisław Lem seiner Zeit voraus. Bereits 1964 beschrieb er mögliche Formen virtueller Realität. In Frieden auf Erden sind die Großmächte übereingekommen, ihre gesamten Waffenarsenale von der Erde auf den Mond zu verlagern. Allerdings weiß niemand auf Erden, was sich auf dem Mond wirklich abspielt, denn die "Doktrin der totalen Unkenntnis" wird strikt eingehalten. Zeit für den Weltraumreisenden Ijon Tichy als Agent der "Lunar Agency" auf dem Mond nach dem Rechten zu sehen.
