This is the first volume in a series that looks at thinking missionally about the world around us and our part in the mission of God. Volume 1 looks at the role and importance of missions in the life and ministry of Jesus.

Perry J. Hubbard, DMIN Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, Ill., and his wife, Nancy, served as missionaries for over thirty years with Global Partners until her death in 2018. Dr. Hubbard continues to serve as a missionary in Iberoamerica with a focus on developing missional leaders. He has written fifty books on missions and other topics.

More and more, the world is becoming multi-ethnic and multi-religious. Wherever you live, you are coming in contact with people of other ethnic and religious backgrounds. We need to understand how to communicate with them. John wrote his gospel when he was living in Ephesus, a city with a multi-ethic and multi-religious society. People from all over the empire came to Ephesus because it was the political, social and economic center for this region.
