I am the starting pitcher for the Groveton College Jackals baseball team. I am one of the hottest guys on campus. Girls want me, guys want to be me. This is my year. If I can lead our team through a winning season, I will have the Major League teams beating down my door. Unfortunately, it all comes to a grinding halt, when the coach threatens to bench me until I get my grades up. I can't afford to let that happen. After a lecture from my father, he decides to hire a tutor to help me.

I have always lived as my father dictated. This includes whom I dated, what clothes I wore, and making sure that I understood any negative attention I brought upon the family name would have repercussions. Then the tide turns, forcing me to a new school. Will I be able to handle the four men whose own lives have been changed by my father's actions?

No one will ever silence my creative voice again, even if there's no end of people who would gladly celebrate my death, just because I let my purple bird fly. Without shining my reason upon this bleak wasteland, I'd have no book to share, and our hateful world would have successfully murdered me. So I'll live joyously even if that means my death, but I'll never die before my soul strikes back.
