Summary

Briljant!

Loved this book, especially because I could enjoy it in my own language! So wish the rest of the trilogy could be narrated in Afrikaans as well. I've read them all and they were brilliant.

Endlessly depressing.

The farm in Afrika only constitutes the last bit of the book, by which time I was so unbelievably depressed by the endless torturous saga in Siberia… the relevance of which remains very vague. I liked the Scottish characters and stories though.
