    Saturday, January 11th, 2025: Mansfield Senior suffered their 1st home loss of the season to Lima Senior, 61-57, at Pete Henry Gymnasium. The Spartans jumped out to a 8-0 lead, but the TYgers came right back with a 7-0 spurt. Mansfield Senior led the game by 4, 20-16, after the 1st quarter. Lima Senior outscored Mansfield Senior, 15-9 , in the 2nd quarter to take a two point lead into halftime at 31-29. Mansfield Senior had the edge in scoreing in the 3rd period, 15-11, an dthe TYgers led 44-42 after 3 quarters. Lima Senior won the final quarter, 19-13, to improved to 8-1, while Mansfield Senior falls to 8-2. Lima Senior had 4 guys finish in double figures: Amari Addy 15, Je'Kel Cotton 13 points and 18 rebounds, and 10 each for Willie Foster and Noah Simpson. Shawn Foster received two technical fouls in the 1st half and finished with 8 points. Mansfield Senior's Andrew Brooks, sophomore, had a great game with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Kyevi Roane had 19 points, 8 rebounds, and D'Vontae Johnson had a double double - finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

    The Ashland Arrows used a big 4th quarter to get a road win at Ontario on Saturday night, 59-46. The Arrows led by 2 points after one quarter, 11-9, and by 3 at the half, 22-19. Ontario started the 3rd quarter on 10-0 run, but Ashland responded, closing out the 3rd on a 14-4 spurt. The Arrows outscored Ontario by 10 in the final quarter, 23-3, to post their 6th win of the year. The loss for Ontario was their 7th in a row. Paxon Ediger led Ashland with 15 points, while the Arrows got 13 big points off the bench from sophomore Garrett Davis. Ontario's Cardae Brown had a game high 25 points, while Trindon Flenoury chipped in 16 for the Warriors.

    The Lexington Minutemen won their 5th in a row on Friday, 71-54, at home over OCC rival Ashland. The Arrows went up 5-0 early in the 1st quarter, before the Minutemen went on a 14-0 run to take control. Lex led by 6 after one quarter and by the same margin at halftime (33-27). The Minutemen used a 22-9 advantage in the 3rd to pull away for the 17 point victory, which puts Lex into a tie atop the league standings (5-1) with Mansfield Senior and Wooster, who each have one league loss. Lexington was led by Seven Allen with a team high 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Jakob Legron connected on 4 three's for 12 points, Gavin Husty chipped in 11 and Joe Caudill added 10. Ashland was led by Paxon Ediger, who had a game high 26 points.

    The Shelby Whippets beat the Ontario Warriors, 68-59, at home Thursday in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference. Ontario jumped out to a 13-3 and Shelby trailed by as many as 13 points, before storming back to win. The Warriors led 20-10 after 1 quarter, but Shelby took control in the 2nd quarter, outscoring Ontario 22-9, to take a 3 point lead into halftime. The Whippets edged the Warriors 16-15 in the 3rd period, and 20-15 in the 4th quarter to post the victory. Braden Devito led Shelby with 22 points, 17 of those came in the 2nd half. Landon Foltz added 21 for the Whippets, which included 10 made free throws. Ontario was led by Cardae Brown with 22 points and Trindon Flenoury with 19 points. Shelby improved to 6-3 and 4-2 in the MOAC, while Ontario dropped their 6th game in a row, falling to 2-7 and 2-3 in the league.

    Mansfield Senior improved to 3-0 with a 85-69 win at cross-town rival Madison on Friday night. Senior High had 4 players score in double figures, led by freshman Kaylen Brooks with 26 points, which included 5 made three point field goals. D'Vontae Johnson poured in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. He also connected on 3/4 from 3-point range and 6/8 at the free throw line. Rashad Reed chipped in 14 points, while Kyvie Roane added 11. Madison was led by Colton Adkins with 19 points and Kaleb Gordon with 16. Senior High outrebounded Madison 39-27. The TYgers improve to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the OCC. The loss for Madison, their 4th in a row, drops them to 1-4 and 0-2 in the league. *The game was broadcast on WMAN*

    The Ontario Warriors (1-1) won their home opener on Thursday, 50-39, over Clear Fork (2-3). Ontario got out to a 10-1 lead in the 1st quarter and had the lead for most of the evening. The Warriors were led in scoring by Cardae Brown, 20 points, and Trindon Flenoury with 16 points. Brown and Flenoury are both freshman and have scored in double figures in both games this season for the Warriors.     The Lucas Cubs beat the Mansfield St. Peter's Spartans, 44-35, in overtime on Friday, December 6th at the Franciscan Center. St. Peter's led by 2 points after the 1st quarter, but Lucas rallied to take a 9 point lead at halftime, 20-11. The Cubs opened up a double digit lead in the 2nd half, but St. Peter's came from behind to take the lead, 34-33 with :04 seconds to play on a lay up by Desmond King. However, Bobby Grover of Lucas was fouled with 1 second on the clock in the 4th and sank a free throw to send the game to OT. Lucas outscored St. Peter's in overtime, 10-1, to post the win on opening night. Hayden Maloney led the way for Lucas with 17 points, while Cooper Day chipped in 10 points.
